7 Years of WordPress-ing

I just stumbled upon a beautiful message from WordPress. It has been a whole 7 years since first I joined this amazing platform. Time flies so fast. Feels like yesterday.

The first time I heard about WordPress was through a few blogs that I have been reading back in my school days and early college days. For the first few months, I didn’t even know what a blogging platform was but when I felt the need of something more than a social network to publish my designs, I had to search. Yes, that was still the Orkut era for me and I was obsessed with gothic art (I’d call it art just to make it sound a little better). Basically, I didn’t want my friends and family to see those piece of whatever (okay I have changed my mind, it’s not art) but I still wanted them to exist somewhere on the internet. Back then, the whole family shared the PC and you know what I mean.

7 years of WordPress-ing

I did not end up publishing them but it did open a whole new world of possibilities. One of them is how I make my living today.

So, thank you WordPress for this awesome ride so far. I hope we stick together for long.

Happy WordPress-ing 😉

Hon Pass Hunza Valley

Ecstasy on the top of Hunza Valley

It was 2:00AM in the morning on the long vacation night so freezing that one wouldn’t even think about exposing any single body part out of a sleeping bag. But I did it. I had left for the Hon Pass with a few friends to see the sun laying its very first rays on the spectacular mountains surrounding the Hunza and Nagar Valleys.

Once again, it was so great to be on the top of the Hunza Valley. Two years back when I went to this place (Hon Pass), it took my breath away. The Hon Pass is worth visiting if you don’t get pleased enough by just seeing a picture!

Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year too all visitors. Hope 2012 is not the end of the world

Year 2011 went like a day but was full of fun, little achievements and yeah not to forget the bad times. 2011 showed all of it. The world lost some great men, there were tragedies, disasters and failures but life has to go on. Here we go – into a yet another new year with all hopes and expectation for even better times.

If it didn’t Bring you Joy,
Just Leave it Behind.

Let’s Ring in the New Year
With Good Things in Mind.

Let Every Bad Memory Go
That Brought Heartache and Pain.

And let’s Turn a New Leaf
With the Smell of New Rain.

Let’s Forget Past Mistakes
Making Amends for This Year.

Sending You These Greetings
To Bring you Hope and Cheer

Happy New Year 2012!

Latest Google Earth Image of Landslide affected region in Hunza

Some days back, Hunza was rocked by one of the worst landslides ever.  A small village of Attabad (Sarat) was hit by the landslide which took about 20 19 lives and made 7000 people homeless. The debris fell into the Hunza river due to which a lake is developed that is threatening the villages nearby. I have just discovered a latest Google earth image of the affected region on the web that’re worth sharing.

How to create a facebook fan page?

What is a facebook fan page?

Facebook fan pages are just like facebook profiles which let your fans and customers connect to you and get notified about your latest activities. Fan pages attract more users than facebook groups due to the multiple embedding options and ability to publish posts in the news feeds which appear on the main page of your account. You can embed widgets on your website to let your fans and customers access to your live streaming activities. A very useful “Become a Fan” button can also be added to get your fans growing.

How to create a fan page?

Recently I have  received a few messages about the creation of facebook fan page. Note that I am not talking about a group which is different from a fan page. I will add another article soon about the differences between facebook groups and fanpages. A lot of people get confused about how to start creating a fan page. This is because you won’t see any option or link to create a fan page.  I am adding some useful pictorial steps for the creation of a facebook fan page.

Step 1:

Login in to your facebook account and go to this URL ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/). You will now see a page as shown in the below picture.

Step 2:

Now click the “Create a page” green button on the top-right of the page. Once you have done that, you will see another page same as shown in the below picture.

Step 3:

Now select a suitable category for you page, choose a name for it, enter your full name in the Electronic Signature  Box and Click “Create Page”. you are done! You will soon see your empty fan page. You can make it more interactive and attractive by adding display picture and more tabs.
